GENETECH began in 1978 when entrepreneur Thierry Delerue purchased PROMAT, a European company supplying fire fighting equipment and maintenance products.

In 1985 a sister company, Group Leader, was created under GENETECH as an importer and exporter of innovative fire fighting equipment.

10 years later Group Leader began designing and manufacturing its own fire fighting and rescue equipment. The division now has subsidiaries in Germany, the United Kingdom, Spain and Portugal.

In 2000, a new company, Bio Ex, was created to produce innovative foams for use in domestic and industrial fire suppression.

Now, in 2010 Leader North America, Inc. has been established in the US market with its revolutionary line of products marketed to all segments of the fire and rescue service. While the company is new to the United States, it is backed by quality, European designed products tried and proven for over a decade in other major fire and rescue markets around the world.

Thomas (Tom) Fox, is Director of Operations of the new Leader North America, Inc. Tom comes from a fire and rescue service background and served as Chief of Rescue in metro Charlotte, North Carolina. With a degree in Business Administration he is a recognized veteran of Sales and Marketing to the United States fire and rescue service with nearly two decades experience in this area. He is a specialist in Positive Pressure Ventilation (PPV)
